Curious about this thing called ‘Race’, how it got created, and how it continues to influence our lives today?  Come out to two, 1-hour film screenings, followed by an hour of discussion.  Each film can stand-alone.  Come to one or both!

Part 1:  Thurs. November 3, 2016 7pm – 9pm

This screening will survey the scientific findings – including genetics – that suggest that the concept of race has no biological basis and provide historical context for race in North America, including when and how the idea got started and why it took such a hold over our minds.

Part 2:  Thurs. November 10, 2016 7pm – 9pm

This screening uncovers how race resides not in nature but in politics, economics and culture. It reveals how our social institutions “make” race by disproportionately channeling resources, power, status and wealth to white society.
